Chess clock
Black starts the clock: tap your own side and White’s time begins.
This chess clock is made for the board on the kitchen table, in the classroom or at the club. Put the phone or tablet beside the board: the top clock (Black) is upside down, so your opponent reads their own time the right way up. Tap your own clock when you have made your move, just like a real chess clock.
Time controls are written as minutes plus increment: 3+2 means three minutes on the clock and two extra seconds for every move you make. The increment is added when you tap, the same rule as in tournament chess. If time runs out, the clock shows who fell. And remember the rule from our draw page: if your opponent has no legal way to deliver mate, running out of time does not lose the game, it is a draw.
