Ratings use Glicko-2 and are provisional until you have played a few games. Friendly games via invite link do not count toward your rating.

Live chess on Sjakki is built safe from the first line: the chat has only friendly, fixed phrases (no free text), you play under a nickname, and the games are free with no ads. The server guards the clocks and the move order, and every move is checked on both ends, so both sides play on equal terms.

We start with blitz and rapid without ratings. Ratings arrive once the fair play guards are in place. We use the Glicko-2 rating system, which finds your level quickly, so your starting number fits.
